Modern Traditions showed work made by David Thomas on residency in Shanghai, China. The work re-contextualised public messages from China, by placing them in front of a predominantly western audience. This coupled with video work like waiting left the audience wondering whether our own intepretations of these ambiguous messages were any clearer than those of Chinese populous.
