23 Second Accumulation Blues

Cymbal, drumsticks, delay pedal, plinth, speakers.

As the viewer/user plays the cymbal, their contribution is recorded onto a loop that repeats every 23 seconds. As each viewer contributes, the loop becomes busier, gradually building throughout the end of the day. Made for the 2005 degree show at Birmingham Institute of Art and Design, Margaret Sreet, BCU.

Many thanks to the the security guards who put up with the slowly growing noise for eight hours a day.
